Israel #3 was an exciting experiment. Previously I had never attempted such a complicated image of water, nor had I ever drawn a sky so minimal. The photograph that I eventually used as a reference for Israel #3 (taken on the Mediterranean coast in Tel Aviv) kept catching my eye, teasing me, daring me to work outside my comfort zone. When I finally succumbed to the challenge I was extremely pleased with the outcome. As challenges often do, completing this drawing opened up a new world of possibilities for my work.
