Han Bing 韩冰
BIO
Han Bing grew up in an impoverished village in rural Jiangsu, China before studying art at Xuzhou Normal University and later the Central Academy of Fine Art in Beijing. Han Bing is well known for his performance pieces involving socially marginalized people and everyday objects iconic of China's masses. Han Bing's works are aiming at reconsidering and revaluing our material relationship with the outside world within our everyday lives.
EDUCATION
1996 B.A. Fine Art at Xuzhou Normal University 1999 Advanced Studies at Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing
Artist statement
In his most recent series, Urban Amber, Han Bing has worked meticulously over the last few years to produce a body of work dedicated to environmental issues. By photographing the reflections of a polluted river in Beijing the artist shows us the other side of our desires of modernity. As he inverts the photographs he creates a deceptive dialogue between the greatness of a celestial sky that then becomes the dejection of our vacuous way of life.
