Artist statement
Over the past couple of years my creative focus has been on expanding and adding to the theory and concepts of appropriation by using iconic contemporary photography as my source material. By transforming these seminal images I am blurring the lines between photography and high art. My intention is to allow the viewer to see these once mechanically produced works as broken down and reformed into old master-like large scale paintings.
