A Dog in Paris
by  Ibrahim Miranda

I believe that cartography in itself, whether in an aesthetic or scientific manner, has its own particular enchantment. Worldwide, the history of cartography describes an untold number of attempts to stigmatize our concrete physical space in order to mask the fragility of our hemisphere. I try to reflect the symbolic instability to which our island is subjected. It´s a comparison between the scientific and visual world reflected by the maps and my own vision transforming this reality that is never static. Inspired by the poem Noche Insular, Jardines Invisibles (Insular Nights, Invisible Gardens) written by the Cuban writer José Lezama Lima, I transgress or defile the scientific accurateness described in the maps, transforming our physical space into a small archaic invertebrate animal that takes us back to our infinitely far-off genesis, our unconditional poetic origins and our most ambiguous and intimate definition.

PAPER QUALITY

All ArtStar limited editions are printed to order on 100% cotton rag Hahnemuhle paper with archival inkjet pigments and are hand cut to size. That's the same quality that museums and galleries use and Hahnemuehle is the best fine art paper on the market. And all our printing and framing is done right here in the USA using environmentally friendly materials.

All prints are printed with a minimum border of 0.5 inches to allow for mating and framing. Quoted print dimensions include this border. Likewise, we never crop, color correct or otherwise alter our artists work and adhere to the highest image quality standards.

OUR FRAMES

ArtStar offers professional custom framing on every print with five stylish options to fit your home: white wood, black wood, natural maple, matless frame and facemounting to Plexiglas. Facemounting is a premium option and carries special pricing depending on the size of the piece. Please contact customerservice@artstar.com to request this option. Framing is the best way to preserve your art and all ArtStar frames have Plexiglas fronts to prevent breakage with the authenticity card mounted on the back. And we use 8-ply acid-free mats with a taped backing to ensure your art lives a long and inspiring life on your walls.

After you choose your frame size and color our professional framers will custom frame, pack and ship your art to you in a bespoke box so that it arrives on your doorstep ready for the wall. (Did we mention we even include the hanger and nail?)

Black, White and Natural Wood Frame Dimensions
11 x 14 - 17 x 20 inches (43 cm x 51 cm)
20 x 24 - 26 x 30 inches (66 cm x 76 cm)
30 x 40 - 40 x 50 inches (102 cm x 127 cm)

Matless Frame

This option is available for our white, black and natural wood frames and omits the white mat between the print and the frame. Instead the frame is flush with the edge of the image and includes a spacer to recess the image stylishly within the frame.

Facemounting to Plexi

The artwork is mounted to a Plexiglas front with a sintra backing giving it a high gloss, gallery-style finish. Facemounting will not increase the dimensions of your print as the facemounting is flush to the border of the image.
