If you're in New York's Midtown, fear not that you're in a cultural wasteland - there's a wonderful show on at Pop Gallery in the Atrium that is absolutely not to be missed. "Madiba, Images of Nelson Mandela by Benny Gool" is a moving exhibition of Gool's documentary portraits of one of this (and last) century's most enduring faces. From a blind South African boy feeling Mandela's face to Mandela peering through jail bars upon his return to Robbin Island Gool documented Mandela's life over 3 decades and the results are remarkable. By simply witnessing the passage of one man's incredible life with his camera, Gool has captured more than the man but a force of history and change.
We're very excited to announce the launch of three new editions just in time for New York's preeminent fashion event: Mercedes Benz Fashion Week by one of the world most coveted fashion illustrators. Entitled The Chic Set, this limited edition print collection was designed exclusively for ArtStar by acclaimed Australian illustrator Megan Hess. The former art director of Liberty department store in London, Hess's career accelerated after she illustrated Candace Bushnell's iconic book Sex and the City. Today her clients include Vanity Fair, Chanel, Dior, Tiffany & Co., Yves Saint Laurent, Vogue, Harpers Bazaar, Fendi, Ladurée and The Ritz Hotel, Paris. Says ArtStar Founder Chrissy Crawford, "As soon as I saw Megan's work I knew we had to have some for ArtStar but I could never have imagined we would be lucky enough to get three custom pieces. I love how Megan's illustrations capture the strength and elegance of these creative women."
Check out the collection and please note that these prints are ONLY available in 20x24 inches, edition of 150.
We've got a super special Fashion Week Treat for you tomorrow... stay tuned! (And in the meantime, feast your eyes on this sweet nothings print by Kent Christensen)
It seems that the new hot thing in media is how Netflix is changing television with their new show House of Cards. Released all at once online the series upends traditional serialization by making all of the episodes available at once to viewers. We're very excited to say the least, about the opportunity to watch even more tv, and featuring Kevin Spacey no less! We're even more excited to share that ArtStar's own Zaria Forman has some of her original pastel drawings featured on the show. Her work can be spotted above hanging in Claire's enviable office. Check out the shots from the set and recreate your own executive suite with Zaria's work from ArtStar (at a fraction of the price, of course)! Big congratulations to Zaria although we're not sure we need more reason to lounge on the couch, we can't wait to turn in!

We're very excited to be launching the work of English artist Gary Andrew Clarke and not just because he's on the wall of Twitter's London office. Check out his wonderful graphic work work on ArtStar and add a piece, or two, to your collection and impress your design-savvy friends.
About Clarke:
Gary Andrew Clarke was born in Leicester, England in 1970. He studied graphic arts at Manchester Polytechnic (later Manchester Metropolitan University) from 1989-91. He subsequently spent several years working within the music industry for a number of major and independent labels. In the late 2000s he began to produce graphic art to sell as prints. His work became widely noticed in 2009, with a series of work based on well-known works of art reduced down to a simple grid of coloured circles. These have been reproduced in many of the leading design and art blogs. His Mona Lisa Remixed, from the series, is on the wall of Twitter’s London HQ. His work has been featured in several art & design books including Foundations of Design, along with various magazine features.

Like the sleek and modern look of the Lisa Levy pieces featured above in today's newsletter? We're very excited to soon be offering facemounting to Plexi, meaning the work is "mounted" to Plexiglas on the face of the work and doesn't have a traditional frame. The effect of facemounting is very sleek and glossy which makes it perfect for photographs and bright contemporary pieces, however, it is less archival than traditional framing options. For more information and to pre-order, email hello@artstar.com.
Intimidated yet? Here's a sneak peek of the incredible Mexican wrestler series - the Lucha Libre - coming soon from acclaimed photographer Mark Mann. If you need someone to keep you on track while at your computer, this is the guy to hang over your desk!
We know you-know-what day is still a month away (phew!) so we won't start inundating you yet with cheesy hearts and flowers and googly eyes (although our office never says no to a box of chocolates). However, we love this simple geometric heart from the blog Oleander and Palm. To see more about how the wall design was made and for full instructions click here. It's a great craft project for the late January blahs and a good reminder that you can't love others until you love yourself.
