I don’t usually shoot at night, in part because I frequently take photographs from a moving vehicle, and in part because I use ambient light and no tripod. In this case, however, I was waiting by the car while my husband, a birder, was following a pair of sandhill cranes in New Mexico's Bosque del Apache wildlife refuge. I particularly liked the colors of the marsh and the car lights on the fencepost.
