POETIC ABSTRACTION NO 1
The pandemic of COVID-19 has forced the world to a halt. Yet is a crazy new world. A world where we stay in. Events are cancelled and we have no where to go. Yet, despite the entire economy frozen in time, time in essence continues moving forward. Days continue to pass us by. Clocks continue ticking reminding us that time continues to move forward. Yet we remain frozen. Waiting. This series, is intended to capture the passage of time. Using whatever I had in my storage closet, I locked myself away and played with my camera. Pushing the boundaries of what I thought was possible. Movements are intentionally blurred to emphasize the passage of time as the subject moves in front of the camera, focusing on abstraction, form, colour, and contrast. Negative space “isolates” the lone, luminous subject and forces the viewer to notice the abstractions.
Lora Moore-Kakaletris is an award winning photo based artist who lives in Toronto, Canada. Lora’s life experiences have brought her to a place where she finds herself driven to create art about who she is, what moves her and what she feels. Her beautiful and dramatic works are filled with personal energy and emotion. After the traumatic loss of her mother at the young age of twelve Lora suppressed most of her thoughts and feelings until she picked up a camera in her late thirties. Often building sets by hand to create intimate, emotive and evocative self portraits, or plunging below the water’s surface, she creates images that reflect ideas and emotions that viewers are drawn to regardless of their personal journeys. Her images have an intentional painterly quality that gives her work a distinctive yet unique look, often blurring the lines between painting and photograph.

Once your artwork is made by our printer, it must be allowed to outgas for 24 hours before being framed and/or shipped. ** Please note that we employ professional framers, shippers and handlers on all orders and only handle our prints with white gloves. While occasional damage by USPS or FedEx in transit is out of our control, we are happy to work with you to resolve any damage that does occur. However, damage in transit is relatively rare.
As our prints are custom made to order according to your preferences, all of our prints are final sale and non-returnable. We guarantee the quality of our prints, so if your order was shipped with a defect or arrived damaged, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.

All frames include:
- UV-blocking acrylic glass, which protects against 91% of UV rays.
- Acid-free, archival mats and materials.
- Taped backs to prevent dust from getting into the frame.
- Strainers on the back to reinforce the structure of the frame.
- Wire on the back of the frame for easy installation.
- Facemounted works are hung on a metal French cleat. Installation instructions are included in the packaging.
Extra small and small frames have .75" molding 2" mats, and are 1.2" deep. Medium and large frames have 1" molding, 3" mats and are 2" deep. Mattless frames have a spacer to prevent the print from touching the acrylic.
We do not frame the extra large print sizes because they are too large to ship without risking damage.
ArtStar does not accept returns. Works damaged in transit may be exchanged on a case by case basis within 30 days of arrival. Please email us as soon as you receive the damaged work at email@example.com. Please do not open your artwork yourself. It is very delicate and difficult to get back in the packaging without damage. Please let a trained framer open the artwork. We do not take back artwork damaged by the customer.
