Painter Ana Popescu's series explores the theme of space and the interplay between interior and exterior environments. Envisioning a utopian concept of home as a parallel reality rich with empty spaces, she draws inspiration from architecture and the play of light and shadow. Popescu blends elements from real-world locations with her own imaginative ideas to construct these new, fictional realms. Typically focusing on one or two primary colors to highlight, she then selects complementary hues throughout the painting process to enhance the overall composition.

About the Piece

Now residing in Paris, France, Ana Popescu is a French visual artist whose work is inspired by artists Alex Katz and David Hockney. Popescu's hand-painted gestures combine forms of light, shadow, and color. By showcasing distorted realities, she encourages you to dive into her unique perspective of the world. Her use of bold colors and abstract forms challenges conventional perceptions, creating an exploration of the boundaries between the real and the surreal. Ana has exhibited widely in cities including New York, Tokyo, Shanghai, Ljubljana, Bergen, London, and Vienna. Her clients include Architectural Digest, Canal+, Google, Frieze NY, M le Monde, Soho House, Rimowa, Tylko, and Zeit Magazine. Through her captivating works, Popescu invites you to immerse yourself in her artistic vision, experiencing the world through her eyes.

  • Shipping Notification: A tracking number will be emailed once your order ships. 
  • Damage Resolution: While we cannot control occasional damage by UPS or FedEx, we will work with you to resolve any issues. Damaged works can be exchanged within 14 days.

All Frames Include:

  • UV-blocking acrylic plexiglass
  • Acid-free, archival materials
  • 100% natural wood molding with a deep profile. 

Frame Specifications:

  • Extra small and small frames: .75" molding, 2" mats, 1.2" deep
  • Medium and large frames: 1" molding, 3" mats, 2" deep
  • Matless frames have a spacer to prevent print from touching the acrylic.
