DAVENPORT

Behind her lens there isn’t a closed concept, but rather a moving narrative where she tells a story by manipulating the formal aspects of the image. She focuses in the colors to highlight elements that would have been lost to the naked eye and simultaneously repurposing the space where her artwork takes place.

CLAUDIA HIDALGO

Claudia Hidalgo, from Guayaquil, Ecuador, is a visual artist specializing in photography. Her lifelong devotion to the craft motivated her to pursue photography courses at New York City and Barcelona following her completion of a degree in sports journalism in Buenos Aires, Argentina. This series titled Duelo has equally become a process through which the artist has assimilated and faced her father's absence. She has experienced a healing process by working on the courts, that space where that sport was their common language. Most of the courts photographed in the series have been places she has played at or visited, and most of the names of the artworks are based on players she followed with heir father. She first felt the urge to use tennis courts as an artistic element in her photography while studying at IDEP, Barcelona. Through her lens, she captures the essence of her daily experiences and unquenchable desire for travel. What distinguishes her work is her keen sensitivity to color, which she skillfully manipulates to evoke emotion. Claudia's artistry lies in her ability to use color to accentuate details often overlooked by the naked eye.
